Cause of Death

I have a rather interesting story about the death of my great, great grandmother, Ann (Merriman) Spurlock.  Filia Ann, also known as Paralee or Philian, Merriman was born about 1843 in Cannon County, Tennessee, to William and Rebecca (Unknown Maiden Name) Merriman.  She is found living with her parents and siblings in the 1850 census, age 7.
"United States Census, 1850," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MCD4-QN9 : 12 April 2016), Paralee Ann Merryman in household of William Merryman, Cannon county, Cannon, Tennessee, United States; citing family 407, NARA microfilm publication M432 (Washington, D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, n.d.).
She married Monroe Spurlock in Woodbury, Cannon County, Tennessee on December 24, 1856.

Sometime between 1881, when their youngest child, Benjamin Franklin Spurlock, was born and 1895, when Monroe died, they moved from Cannon County, Tennessee to Union County, Illinois.

So, the subject of this blog is "Cause of Death", so let's jump to that.  Ann Spurlock died on November 16, 1910 from a "Septic infection from wound caused by a fall" from her bed while a patient at the Anna State Hospital.  The secondary cause of death was Epilepsy.

County Clerk (Main Author); Format: Manuscript/Manuscript on Film Language: English. Publication: Salt Lake City, Utah : Filmed by the Genealogical Society of Utah, 1974
The interesting part of this story, is that there was a Coroner's Inquest concerning her death.  I was able to find the transcript of the Inquest.  Several nurses and a doctor testified concerning the wound she got from the fall, the infection and her subsequent death.

Ann was buried next to her husband the following day in Casper Cemetery, Anna, Union County, Illinois.
