This is the final week of 2018 and I am SO GLAD that I started blogging each week about my family! I plan to continue to write stories prompted by Amy Johnson Crow's suggestions through 2019 and I hope you will continue to follow the blog and comment and share as you choose.
In addition, I have a new project that I have come up with and I am making it public now, in this "Resolution" post, so you can help me make it a success!
About a month ago, one of my first cousins, BJ Denson, texted me and said that she had a Guest Book from the 1970-1988 Aubrey Springer Family Reunions. She asked me if I would like to have it and I said, "Yes!" So, she mailed it to me and it is a great memory producing book!
My grandparents, Aubrey and Minnie (Ramer) Springer started a tradition MANY years ago of having a Family Reunion every year of their children (and their offspring).
This was in addition to a larger Family Reunion that the descendants of Aubrey's grandparents, Robert and Elizabeth Jane (Kelly) Springer held each year on Labor Day weekend!
The "big" reunion in September was a wonderful experience, but sometimes it was overwhelming trying to figure out who everyone was and how they were your "cousin"! This "big" Reunion was officially organized in 1958 and was held each year (almost) until 2012. Here is a Group Photo of this reunion in 1961.
So, the Aubrey and Minnie Springer Reunion, which was often held on Father's Day weekend, was a lot easier to remember who was who and how we were all related! I have photos back to 1958 of such a reunion held at our house, so I know it's been happening for a long time! Here's one of them! (I will post the others that I have from the 1958 reunion on our FaceBook Page later THIS week)!
So, starting next week, the first week in 2019, I am going to to post at least ONE photo on our Aubrey Springer FaceBook Page each week. I will post the Sign In pages for each year, starting with 1970, from the Guest Book - one a week. Then, I am going to add whatever photos I can find of that year's Reunion or other photos of my grandparents or their children, like Aubrey or Minnie's Birthday. If you are a descendant of Aubrey and Minnie and are not on the Aubrey Springer Facebook Page, please let me know and I will ADD YOU! It is a closed group, so only our family sees what we post!
BUT, that's not the end of it! I WANT YOU, each and everyone of you who can, to add any photos YOU have of that Reunion, or that year, to the FaceBook page. In addition to the photos, I encourage you to post any stories or memories of that gathering, or someone in the photos.
I want to say, THANK YOU, to BJ for sharing the book with me! This project will take 19 weeks to complete, so I hope you will join me on this journey! Maybe we can think of something else to make it go even longer, if you like. I can't wait to see what YOU add and the memories we can share about our family! PLEASE join me in the New Year's Resolution for 2019 and let's remember and be thankful for our families!
