The most impressive library I have ever visited is the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah. A few years ago, I was in SLC for a convention and, since the Family History Library there is the "Mecca" of genealogy research, I decided to go a few days early and do some research.
This is a fabulous library with several different floors dedicated to different types of records and regions of the world. One floor is for international research, one is for microfilm of the US and Canada, other floors are just for books, etc. The microfilm floor is overwhelming when you first see it. You can see more photos and take a virtual tour here: https://fgs.org/a-virtual-tour-of-the-family-history-library/.

When you enter the library, you are greeted by very helpful staff who get some information about your immediate research needs. They took me to a computer on the entry level and we were able to narrow down some specific items to look further into. Then they sent me to another floor, where more volunteers were there to guide me and assist me in looking up the materials I was seeking.
I do not remember exactly what I found that day, but I do remember the hospitality and helpful attitudes of everyone I encountered. I was able to go back when I was in SLC for a funeral and would go back in a heart beat. It was an awesome experience and I highly recommend it to anyone who might be researching their family history.
The library is just a few blocks from the Temple and Temple Square. It is absolutely gorgeous! Here are some shots I took while there.
Some additional shots of the surrounding area while I was attending the burial of my cousin, Karen Springer Waller McGinn.
I look forward to returning to this amazing city and especially the Family History Library.
'Til Next Time!
