The suggested word from Amy this week is "Poor Man". I have been trying all week to think of a way to incorporate that phrase into a story about my family. But, I am not coming up with nothing. So, instead, I am going to write about the longevity of some of the members of the Ramer/Ferguson family.
In my dad's family, his mother, Minnie Mae Ramer Springer, and three of her siblings lived very long lives.
- Minnie Ramer Springer - 05 March 1896 - 23 Jan 1988 - age 91
- Johnnie Prue Ramer Borders - 17 Jun 1908 - 02 Jan 1999 - age 90
- James Ernest Ramer - 03 Oct 1894 - 12 Feb 1976 - age 81
- Sadie Bernice Ramer Pillow Wright - 04 Nov 1902 - 09 Oct 1983 - age 80
- Lula Lee Ramer Shockley Irwin - 21 Jan 1900 - 22 Feb 1976 - age 76
- Henry Grady Ramer - 03 Apr 1912 - 28 Oct 1926 - age 14
Among my dad's siblings, three died in their 60's, one in his 70's and two in their 90's.
- May Ruth Springer Noles Jackson - 16 Sep 1915 - 30 Jan 2011 - age 95
- James Buford Springer - 27 Nov 1918 - 29 Oct 2011 - age 92
- Ramer Carroll Springer - 16 Oct 1914 - 22 Nov 1992 - age 78
- George Henry Springer - 05 Jun 1923 - 06 Feb 1993 - age 69
- Janella Springer Clement - 31 Dec 1920 - 22 Jul 1988 - age 67
- Aubrey Delton Springer - 22 Mar 1917 - 29 Sep 1982 - age 65
- Modena Prue Springer - 03 Mar 1925 - 03 Feb 1937 - age 11
Going back to the parents of Minnie, my dad's mother, we also see that Henry and Jennie also lived pretty long lives.
- John Henry Ramer - 03 Jul 1872 - 04 Dec 1945 - age 73
- Nancy Jane "Jennie" Ferguson Ramer - 23 Jan 1876 - 22 May 1958 - age 82

And one more generation really doesn't reveal any secrets, either!
- James Samuel Ramer - 04 Feb 1846 - 13 Jan 1914 - age 67
- Lydia Ann Reeder Ramer - 13 Nov 1848 - 15 Apr 1925 - age 76
- James Ezekiel Ferguson - 22 Sep 1848 - 16 Nov 1920 - age 72
- Margaret Ann Hill Ferguson - 29 Jan 1853 - 03 Apr 1932 - age 79
So, I am not sure where the longevity comes from, but when two siblings in two successive generations live into their 90's - that's pretty impressive!
'Til Next Time!
